As Embry-Riddle’s Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, Dr. Austin’s responsibilities encompass critical areas affecting academic matters and student success for the more than 30,000 students at the world’s leading higher education institution focused on aviation, aerospace and research.
Throughout his tenure at ݮƵ, Austin has led significant academic initiatives aimed at promoting faculty and academic excellence, while also improving the overall student experience. He has led educational innovation, supported the expansion of the research enterprise, and strengthened industry partnerships, helping elevate the university’s position as a leader in the aviation and aerospace community. His focus on curriculum updates, faculty development, and interdisciplinary collaboration has strengthened teaching and scholarship. Austin’s commitment to student success has resulted in measurable improvements in retention and graduation rates and reinforce the institution’s global reputation.
Dr. Austin has previously held the position of Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses and Executive Chancellor at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park. In that role, he oversaw the teaching, research, and service activities, and managed the budget for Penn State’s 20 Commonwealth Campuses, which educated approximately 27,000 students across all academic programs. He also served as Chancellor at Penn State Schuylkill. Before his tenure at Penn State, Dr. Austin was Vice President for Finance and Administration at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
Dr. Austin holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Business Administration in Aviation (Airline Management) from ݮƵ.

Asia Campus Administration
Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University Asia Ltd., is a wholly owned subsidiary of Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University, Incorporated (ERAU, Inc.). The company is governed on behalf of ERAU Inc. by a Board of Directors, which is chaired by the Chancellor of ERAU’s Worldwide Campus and served by appointed members from both ERAU Inc. and the Worldwide Campus, including the Head of Asia, who is an ex officio member.
The mission of the Board of Directors is to ensure that ERAU Asia’s operations are in compliance with the laws of the United States and Singapore, maintains the accreditation standards of the South Association of Colleges and School (SACS) and relevant local authorities, and maintains its business in compliance with its Articles of Association under the Singapore Companies Act, CAP 50.

The Academic Board is responsible for upholding the academic standards, quality and rigor upheld at ERAU Asia Institute through documented academic policies, procedures and processes. The Academic Board meets at least once per year to discuss pertinent matters around faculty deployment, teaching, learning and curriculum matters. The ERAU Asia Institute Academic Board is geared toward adopting best practices and continuous improvement and comprises the following individuals:

The Examination Board is responsible for upholding the standards of assessment through the development of robust examination and assessment policies, procedures and processes. The Examination Board meets at least once per year to discuss pertinent matters around the development, setting and conduct of summative and formative assessments implemented at ERAU Asia Institute. The ERAU Asia Institute Examination Board is geared toward adopting best practices and continuous improvement and comprises the following individuals:
