Brian J Roggow

Overview

Brian Roggow serves as associate dean for the College of Aviation at the Prescott Campus and as department chair and MSSS program coordinator for the Safety Science department. He also oversees initiatives within the Robertson Safety Institute.

He holds a Master of Science in Safety Science, a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science and an Associate of Applied Science in Administration of Justice and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Aviation. Prior to joining the faculty, Brian served as a director of aviation safety and held roles including flight instructor, standards check instructor, team safety leader and assistant training manager.

Throughout his career, Brian has contributed to the development and implementation of Safety Management Systems and led organizational efforts to establish an Aviation Safety Action Program and a Flight Data Monitoring program. His work has been recognized for fostering a positive safety culture and significantly reducing accident rates.

Brian’s research interests include aviation safety management systems, human factors, accident and incident analysis and safety recommendation analysis. He is a commercial pilot, certified flight instructor, administrative pilot examiner and FAASafety Team lead representative. He was named the 2017 FAASafety Team Representative of the Year for Arizona and the FAA Western Pacific Region.

In addition, Brian is credentialed as a Certified International Safety Manager and a Certified HFACS Professional. He regularly presents by invitation for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Transportation Safety Institute, where he teaches the Human Factors Analysis and Classification System to audiences that include FAA inspectors, military personnel and private sector safety managers.
