ERNIE is the Embry-Riddle online portal. As an applicant, you will gain instant access to ERNIE. You will use ERNIE to monitor your admission documents and status, and it is the system you will continue to use as a student at Embry‑Riddle.

Before using ERNIE, you must activate your account. You will need your last name, date of birth and your Embry-Riddle ID number. Your Embry-Riddle ID was sent to the email address you used in your ERLI application.

How to activate your ERNIE account:

1. Go to ernie.erau.edu.
2. Click “Activate Your Account” under the Log In button.
3. Follow the instructions and enter the required information.
4. Remember the password you choose — you will need it often.

To check your email:

1. Log in to ERNIE.
2. At the top of the page, find “Office Apps.”
3. Click “Office Apps.”
4. Select Outlook. This is where you will find your Embry-Riddle email.

After you have activated your account, access this important information in the My Tools section of : 

• Campus Solutions has your “To-Do List” under Tasks. Complete these items as soon as possible.
• Email will open Outlook. This is where your Embry-Riddle email is located.
• Canvas has an “ERLI Student Information Site.” Go through this course for important information.

Form I-20 is a crucial document that international students must have before applying for a visa. Follow these steps to request your I-20:

1. Log in to the with your ERNIE credentials.
2. Choose "F-1 student" when logging in for the first time.
3. Click on "Submit a Request" from the menu in the ISSS Portal.
4. Choose "Initial I-20 Request DB/PC" from the drop-down.
5. Check your Embry-Riddle email. Your I-20 will be sent there within 10 days of submitting all information correctly.

Note: If you are bringing a spouse or child to the U.S., then you will need to request I-20 for them as well. Email dbiss@erau.edu after you receive your I-20 to request your dependents.

Once you receive your I-20 it is time to apply for your F-1 student visa. Visa wait times can be long, so do this as soon as possible. Study in the States is a great resource for students.

Check your ERNIE account daily and complete all items in your Task List. Also, check your Embry-Riddle email and respond to requests. If you have questions, you can always email ERLI@erau.edu or . You will also receive an invitation in your email to an ERLI “Take-Off: Pack Your Bags” webinar.

Next step is to pay your nonrefundable tuition deposit. Your tuition deposit must be paid before you can be registered for your classes. Pay your tuition deposit. Students who will come as F-1 visa holders should wait to pay the deposit until they have their visa.

Log in to your ERNIE account. Open "Campus Solutions Student Service Center" in Tools. In your To-Do List, you will find your Financial Responsibility Agreement Form. Follow these to complete the required Financial Responsibility Agreement Form.

Every Embry-Riddle student is required to have an EagleCard. This card is your access key, campus debit card, library card and meal plan card, and can even be used for purchases and discounts off-campus. Apply for your card.

You must complete two health requirements prior to attending classes.

Students have two options for housing: on-campus and off-campus.

Housing is difficult to find, so plan to look for housing as soon as possible. ERLI does not facilitate host families or homestays. Students are responsible for finding their own housing. Visit the Housing page for more information.

International Student Services and ERLI will send you emails often about pre-arrival webinars, orientation and other events. It is very important to check this email often.

Make travel arrangements as soon as you are able to make sure you will arrive on campus before your placement test. Check the ERLI Calendar for dates and times. You will be registered for classes after you complete the placement test. If you need us to register you before the placement test, let us know. The Placement Test is followed by mandatory ERLI Student Orientation.

Tuition is due on the first day of class. Students can pay with a credit card, cashier’s check, or electronic transfer. By the first day of class, the balance can be paid in full, or students can enroll in a payment plan for $75 and pay the first installment with the $75 payment plan fee. Students can email Student Financial Services at sfs@erau.edu. Remember to use your ERAU email and include your student ID!

Health insurance is mandatory for all international students. You will be automatically charged for a Health Insurance Student Plan. If you have insurance that meets Embry-Riddle's minimum requirements, you can apply for an insurance waiver through ERNIE. Midterm students should email a copy of the front and back of their insurance card to ERLI@erau.edu to get an insurance waiver.

All students living on campus are required to purchase a meal plan. Students who live off-campus have the option to purchase a meal plan if they want to.
