At the Daytona Beach Department of Aeronautical Science, students don’t just learn about aviation, they live it! Home to the world’s leading Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Aeronautical Science, along withB.S. in Aeronauticsand a B.S. in Uncrewed Aircraft Systems, students prepare for dynamic careers in both traditional and emerging sectors of aviation. Students can further tailor their education with minors such as Aeronautical Studies, Aviation Law, Advanced Air Mobility and Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Applications.
What sets this program apart is the experience and commitment of the faculty, comprised of seasoned airline captains, military pilots (including Top Gun graduates), corporate pilots, test pilots, aerospace engineers and flight safety experts.
Students worldwide come to Embry-Riddle and leave with the hands-on training and academic knowledge needed to thrive in the aviation industry. The curriculum blends rigorous coursework with real-world flight training for a truly immersive experience.
Whether your goal is to fly for a major air carrier, lead uncrewed systems operations or innovate within the aviation field, Embry-Riddle gives you the tools, mentorship and opportunities to take off with confidence. Degrees and Programs
Explore the science and practice of piloting through hands-on flight and simulation. Focus on navigation, weather and safety to build the technical skills and professional judgment needed to operate aircraft and contribute to aviation mission success.
Examine the aviation industry through operations, safety, maintenance and air transportation systems. Develop technical understanding and applied problem solving that supports advancement across airports, flight organizations and aerospace networks.
Coordinate flight operations through weather analysis, routing and regulatory knowledge. Support flight crews by evaluating conditions and making informed go or no-go recommendations that promote safety and schedule stability.
Note: This program is offered alongside the pursuit of a degree and not as separate training.
Where flight meets innovation. Study design, operation and safety of uncrewed aircraft while exploring regulatory and ethical considerations. You’ll learn how autonomous systems support applications in mapping, surveillance and logistics.
Our labs and facilities offer dynamic, hands-on environments where students practice real-world skills in cyber intelligence, computer science and security operations.
At the College of Aviation, students thrive in a dynamic research environment, mentored by faculty who actively publish, secure grants and drive innovation.
Faculty at the College of Aviation also stand apart due to their diverse backgrounds and commitment to a comprehensive and global perspective on education, and all of them are adept at specialized learning concepts in our wide range of degree programs.
I knew I wanted to continue my education and to pursue flight at the highest level. Earning a degree in Aeronautical Science was the clear choice. As a first-generation aviator, Embry‑Riddle’s reputation in aviation was known even at my small flight school outside Houston, Texas, which led to my application.”
