Florida Test Bed
This agile research and integration facility integrates multiple flight domains, established to allow gate-to-gate demonstrations of Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems, concepts and procedures.

NASA Selects Embry-Riddle to Lead Research Project
NASA selected an Embry‑Riddle team to lead a $6.7 million research project to equip advanced air mobility aircraft with real-time response. The team is one of three selected by NASA. The three-year project aims to advance airborne transportation technology while providing career mentoring to team members.
Embry‑Riddle Awarded R-2 Status
The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education has classified Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University's Daytona Beach Campus as a Research 2 (R-2) institution. This classification is given to universities that devote significant resources to research and Ph.D. production, specifically those spending at least $5 million annually on research and awarding 20 doctorates each year. The R-2 classification reflects a major milestone for Embry‑Riddle, underscoring its strategic investments in research.
Collaborative and Dual-Campus Team Competitions
Daytona Beach Campus students took top honors at the 2024 AIAA Design/Build/Fly Competition in Wichita, Kansas, beating out 106 other teams from 92 universities. The Embry‑Riddle squad from the Prescott Campus also placed in the top 10, earning eighth overall. The undergraduate teams had to design, build and test a remotely operated airplane for urban air mobility.
Rocketry teams from Daytona Beach and Prescott take part in a variety of national and global competitions. In 2023, a team from Prescott shattered several records and achieved the highest undergraduate and collegiate amateur liquid rocket launch in the United States.
Our flight teams have won the NIFA SAFECON national championship 17 times since 1992 and have an unbroken 38-year record as regional champions, with the Prescott Campus team recently winning the 2025 national championship.
Embry‑Riddle’s College of Aviation Maintenance sent a team to PBExpo — a premier aviation and aerospace trade show. They were rewarded with seven podium finishes.
