The Academic Advancement Center (AAC) at the Daytona Beach Campus provides free peer tutoring services for foundational (100- and 200-level) general education courses that will set you on a path to academic success.
All Peer Tutors and Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders are trained and work closely with faculty to ensure that the topics covered during the sessions are useful for the students and relevant to the lectures.
General Tutoring Labs
Tutoring is available for most of our foundational 100-200 level courses in Math, Physics, Chemistry and Engineering. For course listings in which tutoring is available, visit the .
Each tutoring lab is equipped with whiteboard tables, which provide a study space for individual and collaborative learning. Peer tutors are available during all operational hours within each of the five specialized tutoring labs, divided by subject area. In addition, a dedicated computer lab with all current university software is accessible, along with a quick-print station for all your computing needs.
All tutoring labs are operated on a walk-in basis.
Supplemental Instruction
In addition to the tutoring labs, there are additional offerings of course-specific Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions for foundational Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology courses.
SI sessions take place in the College of Arts & Sciences (COAS), which are held Monday through Thursday during the evenings to avoid potential schedule conflicts. Refer to the .
Engineering Educational and Research Laboratories
Each course in the Engineering Fundamentals curriculum (EGR 101, EGR 115, and EGR 120) has a designated laboratory space for use as a classroom and for projects related to the course. These spaces are frequently equipped with tutors and available for supervised use.
The primary laboratory space for the Engineering Fundamentals Department is the Engineering Student Project Center.
Aviation Learning Center
The Aviation Learning Center (ALC) in the College of Aviation provides free tutoring with a primary focus on Aeronautical Science and Flight course related topics.
Communications Tutoring
Located in the Mori Hosseini Student Union, the (CCDM) aims to expose students and faculty to various communication and digital literacy skills through one-on-one tutoring. They can assist with written, spoken and digital communications through one-on-one tutoring.
Online Tutoring
For students who choose to engage with the online modality, tutor.com is available through your Canvas learning management system.
The Prescott Campus Testing Center provides a quiet, comfortable and inclusive testing environment for students. We offer an alternative testing option for instructors to send students who have been permitted to take a test, quiz or exam at a different scheduled time, or require accommodations that they are unable to provide in their current classroom setting.
Tutoring Center
The offers free tutoring services to all enrolled students. Our experienced peer tutors have already taken the courses for which they tutor, provide specific and knowledgeable guidance, suggest effective study strategies and promote independence in learning. Both scheduled appointment and drop-in tutoring services are available so students can get the support they need when they need it.

The mission of the Center of Mentorship Programs and Student Success (COMPASS) is to provide an example and guide to the world in and beyond the student’s Worldwide educational journey, enhancing the student’s affinity for the College and University, and enabling greater persistence toward graduation goals and more timely degree completion via the four COMPASS Headings one can take to "Navigate Forward."
Originally founded by the College of Arts & Sciences, COMPASS provides support for, and accepts applications from, all Embry‑Riddle students through its three COMPASS Headings:
Cohort Mentorship
Up to seven students work with a faculty mentor for four months, focusing on set topics designed to support newer students and overcome barriers to success. Mentors provide the initial topics for discussion and supporting activities. Additionally, student-offered topics may be addressed as well. Your Cohort members and your faculty mentor will coordinate to meet twice a month for those four months (although your connections can continue long after the cycle ends).
Pal Mentorship
The PAL — Peer and Alumni Leader — Mentorship Program will pair a trained, certified student mentor or alumnus with a cohort of up to five students for group and PAL mentorship that lasts a single four-month cycle (although connections can continue long after the cycle ends). Mentors provide the initial topics for discussion and supporting activities. Additional student-offered topics may be addressed as well.
If interested in becoming a PAL Mentor, please contact COMPASS@erau.edu.
Requirements: Active student in good standing; no academic probations; completed at least one cycle in any COMPASS Heading; completed Peer Leader training (provided).
Alumnus: Graduated within the last two years, completed Peer Leader training (provided). Having completed at least one cycle in any COMPASS heading is preferred (although not required).”
Individual Mentorship
Students work one-on-one with a faculty mentor for a full academic year. This is a flexibly structured mentorship program, and the topics addressed are based on the student’s goals and needs. The mentor primarily acts as a guide and professional advisor. You and your mentor will coordinate to meet once or twice each month for the academic year (although connections can continue long after that period ends).
Our students agree that mentoring matters:
“The mentoring program has helped me personally, professionally and academically. I am able to stay on track and accomplish my goals with help from my mentor. Overall, I would recommend the mentoring program to anyone.”
“It is refreshing and comforting to interact with someone who can relate to both academic as well as personal obstacles. This pays huge dividends to students, for sure!”

The mission of Everything Quantitative for Teachers and Students (EQUATES) is to support students and their instructors through a video repository, workshops, peer tutoring and research that cover topics in the Mathematics, Science and Technology curriculum.
Officially housed within the College of Arts & Sciences, EQUATES provides support for all Embry‑Riddle students and their instructors through its four EQUATES Quadrants.
Video Repository
This repository resides in the university’s learning management system in order to make Embry‑Riddle course videos available to students independent of their enrollment in particular courses within the Mathematics, Science and Technology Department. The repository is searchable by subject for student self-study or instructor recommendations.
Workshops
Focusing on student needs in support of their success in mathematics, science and technology by sharing best practices for using computational software, calculators, equation editors and other technical systems useful for but not directly targeted in any one class.
Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) With Badging (coming in AY 25-26)
Offering a free online course that anyone can take with readings, video lectures, interactive learning modules and assessments. Once the student completes the MOOC with the appropriate assessment score, they will receive a badge signifying completion of the skill training. The MOOCs will target content similar to the Workshops. That is, students will have opportunities to develop technical skills useful in STEM fields not directly targeted in any one course.

Our students agree that the videos matter:
“First and foremost, I have to tell you that I loved your videos. Towards the end, I completely stopped watching the textbook videos completely because they were needlessly complicated. Your videos were easy to understand, well laid out and sometimes downright funny. I really struggle with math, so your explanations helped me through.”
“I thought they (the videos) were great! It was a huge help for understanding, seeing as typically the only visual interaction students have is with the book. I can't wait to see calculus ones.”
