Dr. Ahmed Abdelghany is the associate dean for research at the David B. O'Maley College of Business. Dr. Abdelghany also holds the position of professor of operations management in the college. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Abdelghany worked for several years within the information services division (enterprise optimization) of United Airlines, Chicago. Abdelghany has a Doctorate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Civil Engineering, Transportation Systems (2001).
He authored two books on the airline industry, titled Modeling Applications in the Airline Industry (Routledge, 2010) and Airline Network Planning and Scheduling (Wiley, 2018). He also has several publications in the area of airline management, operations and competition analysis, transportation planning and simulation of complex systems in several journals including the European Journal of Operational Research, Transportation Research,ĚýJournal of Revenue and Pricing Management, Annals of Operations Research, Air Transportation Management, International Journal of Revenue Management,ĚýTransportation Research Record, Journal of Public Transportation and the Air Traffic Control Quarterly.
Dr. Abdelghany participates in several research and consulting projects on commercial airlines, including Big Data Cloud Computing on AWS, Next Generation Air Transportation Systems (NextGen) and the simulation of complex transportation systems in the U.S. and overseas. Dr. Abdelghany also participates in teaching several short courses for professionals in the airline and transportation industry.
