The College of Aviation's Aviation Maintenance Science team soared to success at PBExpo 2025, earning a second-place overall finish in the collegiate competition.

This impressive achievement is especially notable given that many team members were first-time competitors.

PBExpo, hosted by PartsBase, is a premier aviation and aerospace trade show that brings together professionals from across the industry, including suppliers, MRO providers, educators and students. The event features exhibits, keynote speakers and hands-on competitions, giving students the opportunity to demonstrate their technical skills in a real-world setting.

The students trained diligently each week to prepare for the event, and their hard work paid off — securing seven podium finishes.

  • FAA FAR (Federal Aviation Regulations) - 2nd place: Hailey Knott
  • Fluid Line Construction - 3rd place: Jessie Kalber
  • Cable Rigging - 2nd place: Megan Edwards & Nataly Taylor; 3rd place: Cassie Savukinas & Hailey Knott
  • Electrical Troubleshooting - 2nd place: Christian Bautista & Cassie Savukinas; 3rd place: Sandra Acree & Jackie Wilson
  • VR Ground Handling - 3rd place: Sandra Acree

"This group of young, talented students made us incredibly proud," said Department Chair Ian Wheeler. "Their dedication and drive reflect the excellence we strive for in our aviation maintenance programs."

Special thanks go to Ustina Guirguis, Douglas Stevenson, Cristin Klaus and Jay Lacy for their support, training and encouragement throughout the competition. The team also extends gratitude to Sean Gallagan, Ph.D., for organizing this event.

Looking ahead, the Embry‑Riddle team is excited to continue its momentum at the upcoming 2025 Aerospace Maintenance Council Competition in Atlanta, Georgia, this April.
