Items of interest in this area include the evolution of stars; the large-scale structure of galaxies; the search for dark matter (e.g., black holes, massive neutrinos, and exotic particles); and unusual compact objects such as pulsars, quasars, and magnetars.
Project Details
At the Prescott Campus, we have both optical and radio observatories that students actively use, directly controlling, building, and taking data. Some highlights include observations of exoplanets, radio observations of pulsars and the galactic radio environment. Our faculty are involved in research on the nature of the interstellar medium as well as detailed state-of-the-art modeling of galactic dynamics in galaxies with black holes at their centers. Our astronomy faculty have received external funding from NASA and the NSF.
