The Peter Vosbury Turbine Engine Lab allows students to develop a solid understanding of the operation, inspection and overhaul of a turbine engine.
Two test cells accommodate small- to medium-sized aircraft engines (piston, turboprop, turboshaft and turbojet engines) and low-thrust rocket engines. Each test cell contains basic instrumentation for measuring engine parameters and the fuel system.
Equipment
- Workbenches
- Precision measuring instruments
- Non afterburning J-85 engines
- T-53 turboshaft engines
Research Capacity
Actual engines allow for the testing of new components. The test cells can accommodate small-scale piston and turbine engines up to 8,000 lbs. of thrust.
