The Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) Lab utilizes the latest Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System to provide radar separation to Instrument Flight Rules and Visual Flight Rules aircraft operating within the airspace surrounding a primary airport.
This lab uses the same simulated airspace as the FAA Academy, which is 20 miles in diameter and extends from the surface to 12,000 feet. TRACON controllers sequence arrivals at primary and secondary airports. They also sequence all departure traffic by establishing them on their departure routes before handing them off to En Route controllers.
