The Robotics and Autonomous Systems Lab (RASL) supports research activities into the design and operation of uncrewed and automated systems.
This lab is also home to Embry-Riddle's award-winning Team Minion, which competes in the Maritime RobotX Challenge. This team develops autonomous maritime systems based around a 16-foot USV and has won multiple awards, including the AUVSI Xcellence Award in 2023 and the world championship in Sydney, Australia, in 2022.
The goals of this lab include:
- Application and characterization of machine-learning processes for autonomous system perception.
- Performing complex behaviors using uncrewed systems in the ground, maritime and aerial domains.
- Design and analysis of uncrewed system technologies.
Equipment
- Minion Autonomous Research Vessel (16-foot USV)
- SRS Fusion UUV
- Direct access to the VICON Motion Capture System
