The King Engineering and Technology Center houses faculty office space, classrooms, labs and workspace for engineering courses. It is the primary building for computer and electrical engineering programs.
A unique feature of this building is the many prints depicting aircraft and other engineering marvels — each the second of only 1,000 prints made. The first of these issued prints now hangs on the walls of the Pentagon, while the third hangs in the White House.
A few of the labs in the King Center include:
- Communications Systems Lab (Room 117): A lab space where students can study radio communication, transmission and reception, amplitude modulation and frequency modulation.
- Power Lab (Room 121): A laboratory for Electrical, Aerospace, Computer and Mechanical engineering students that contains instruments, parts and equipment used for prototyping and testing electronic circuits and learning power instruments operation.
- Control Systems Lab (Room 122): A lab where students apply theoretical concepts introduced in class to relevant practical examples, such as DC motor speed and position control.
- Microprocessor Systems Lab (Room 122): A laboratory where electrical, computer and software engineers learn the fundamentals of microprocessor integration and microprogramming, including analog and digital input/output to devices ranging from stepper motors to liquid crystal displays.
- Linear Circuits and Electronics Devices Lab (Room 130): Introductory electric circuits laboratories for Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering students.
- The L Lab: An open computer lab for students to work on schoolwork and projects. It features engineering software such as MATLAB.
- Senior Design Lab: Computer and electrical engineering students bring their equipment and supplies to this space to work on the design, building and testing of their senior capstone projects.
