Dr. Shannon Lodoen is an assistant professor of Rhetoric and Composition. She holds a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature (Rhetoric) from the University of Waterloo, Canada, and an M.A. from the Centre for the Study of Theory and Criticism at Western University, Canada.
Her research isÌýorganized into three related areas: rhetoric and communication, critical discourse and text analysis and student-centered pedagogy. Her work examines how smartphones are persuasive and persuading entities, using an approach that bridges communication and media studies, as well as rhetorical and critical theories. She is also interested in the intersecting roles of digital communications technologies and Artificial Intelligence in the classroom.
Dr. Lodoen has worked withÌýUWaterloo's Centre for Teaching Excellence and IEEE's Society for the Social Implications of Technology and is currently on the Executive Board of the Canadian Society for the Study of Rhetoric.
