Born and raised in Southern California where he attended elementary, secondary, undergrad college and graduate college. He worked his way through college as a grocery clerk, then was drafted into the U.S. Army between undergrad and grad school. Married with four adult children and eight grandchildren. Served on many boards and commissions in his professional and personal life, most recently as vice chair of the Sedona Planning and Zoning Commission in Arizona and Treasurer of the neighborhood Homeowner's Association in Central Oregon.
Recreational activities include golfing two days a week, weather permitting, mountain bike riding, fishing and hiking. Recently bought a boat. Have traveled since he retired from his day job to Germany/Austria/Switzerland, Ireland, Alaska, Argentina and Uruguay.
