Professor Geraci joined Embry-Riddle in 2006 as an Instructor in the Charles Taylor Aviation Maintenance Science Department. His contributions have been pivotal to Embry-Riddle’s reputation as the world’s leading aviation university. Over the years, he has been promoted twice, first to assistant professor and then to his current role as associate professor.
Before joining Embry-Riddle, Professor Geraci had a distinguished career with United Airlines, bringing extensive knowledge and experience from various aviation industry sectors. His aviation journey began with Midway Airlines in White Plains, NY, where he worked as an aircraft cleaner while earning his FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificates and his associate and baccalaureate degrees. He advanced through several roles at Midway Airlines, including Operations Agent, Security Agent, Baggage Handler, Deicing Agent and Ramp Supervisor.
Professor Geraci then joined Pan Am as an Operations Coordinator, gaining valuable experience in airport operations, particularly in Airport Crash, Fire and Rescue (now ARFF). He also became skilled in other airport operational duties.
After his tenure at Pan Am, he accepted an Aviation Maintenance Technician position with United Airlines in San Francisco, working at United’s overhaul and heavy maintenance facility. He later moved to a Line Maintenance Operation role at Washington-Dulles International Airport.
Throughout his career at United Airlines, Professor Geraci held various positions, from technician to instructor, engineer, and management. He was a member of the Aircraft Recovery Team, always ready to travel globally to recover incapacitated United aircraft. Notably, he was dispatched to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on September 11, 2001, to inspect the wreckage of United 93.
During his time at United Airlines, Professor Geraci also volunteered at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum - Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia, where he had the honor of working on historic aircraft, including the Enola Gay.
