Jennifer Smith, Ph.D. is an experienced electrical engineer and academic leader with a diverse background spanning aerospace, biomedical and commercial industries. She serves as Academic Chair for Pre-Engineering at Embry-Riddle, where she supports foundational engineering education and student success.
Smith earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering from Utah State University, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah.
She brings extensive industry experience, having held roles such as Systems Engineer at Bigelow Aerospace, Director of the Center for Aerospace Technology and Chief Technology Officer at One Stop Satellite Solutions. Her professional work also includes collaborations with organizations such as NASA, the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory, the Center for Aerospace Engineering, the Center for Biomedical Design, International Serum Inc., Abbott Pharmaceutical and the Walt Disney Corporation, reflecting a broad range of technical applications across aerospace, healthcare and technology sectors.
In addition to her industry experience, Smith has taught engineering at multiple institutions, including Salt Lake Community College, Weber State University, Utah State University, Boise State University and Embry-Riddle. Her teaching focuses on building strong technical foundations while connecting theory to real-world engineering challenges.
