Eduardo Afonso Ribeiro

Overview

Dr. Ribeiro specializes in mechanical vibrations, rotordynamics, vibration control and analysis, viscoelasticity, smart structures, solid mechanics and machine design. He has a strong combination of academic and industry experience in these fields, with a background that includes undergraduate teaching, research and consulting for various sectors within mechanical engineering.

With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Ribeiro has contributed to several innovative developments. Notably, he has pioneered novel methods for vibration control in supercritical rotating machinery, utilizing multi-degree-of-freedom viscoelastic supports and viscoelastic absorbers. He also developed a dynamic flexible tuning viscoelastic absorber for broadband vibration suppression in mechanical structures, which led to the founding of a small business with fellow researchers.

At ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ, Dr. Ribeiro is dedicated to integrating his research and professional background into undergraduate education and continues to conduct research in vibration control using smart viscoelastic structures and rotordynamics control.
