Dr. Doreen McGunagle is a subject matter expert in corporate and international strategy and serves as a faculty member in the College of Business on the Worldwide Campus. She teaches business foundation, international business and strategy courses to help students develop critical business acumen for the global economy.
Dr. McGunagle holds a Ph.D. in Organization and Management, specializing in International Business. Before joining Embry-Riddle, she consulted and advised organizations on corporate strategy, organizational culture and strategic planning. Her extensive experience in business consulting and academia equips her with a practical and research-driven approach to teaching and mentorship.
Dr. McGunagle’s research focuses on integrating sustainability into business strategy and management practices. She examines the relationship between environmental, social governance (ESG) and financial performance, exploring how organizations can align decision-making with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Her work emphasizes integrated management, a strategic approach that enables businesses to measure and optimize their long-term sustainability—not just in an environmental sense but also in terms of resilience and competitive advantage.
She is particularly interested in how businesses navigate international markets, adapt to shifting regulatory landscapes and implement sustainable corporate strategies. Her research contributes to understanding how organizations can enhance operational efficiency while maintaining ethical and sustainable business practices.
Dr. McGunagle is also passionate about equipping students with workforce-ready skills, including critical thinking, team collaboration, time management and decision-making, to prepare them for leadership roles in a competitive global economy.

She actively contributes to thought leadership in business sustainability and strategic management.
