Dr. Dave Hinkes is an assistant professor of marketing and a faculty member in the College of Business, Business Administration Department.
Dr. Hinkes holds a dual DBA in Marketing and Management, a general MBA and an A.B. in Politics and Public Affairs with a minor in Philosophy. He also maintains a plethora of professional sales and marketing certifications. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a sales and marketing professional in the document management services, outsourcing and real estate/mortgage industries and owns a consulting firm (Hink, Inc.) that specializes in sales, marketing, management, leadership, communication and motivation providing consulting, training, coaching, mentoring and public speaking services.
Dr. Hinkes is a fellow for the Direct Selling Educational Foundation (DSEF) based in Washington, DC. He has been published and cited in textbooks, websites and scholarly and professional trade journals. His research interests are professional salesmanship, sales management, general management, marketing, communication, cross-cultural values, performance leadership, motivation, strategy and entrepreneurship. He joined Embry-Riddle in 2018.
Dr. Hinkes is the recipient of a Teaching Excellence Award (2010) from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). He published a marketing textbook Senior Seminar in Marketing Topics (McGraw-Hill) and his Amazon bestselling book (now in its 3rd edition) Selling By Objectives (SBO): The Handbook for More Profitability in the 21st Century (CreateSpace, an Amazon Company). He is listed in Who's Who in Professional Management, National Association of Sales Professional Registry of Who's Who, Metropolitan Registry of Who's Who Executives and Professionals, Global Directory of Who's Who and Faculty Row of Super Professors. He is a lifetime member of Sales and Marketing Executives International (SMEI, Sumas, WA) and a member of the Sales Management Association (SMA, Atlanta, GA). He resides with his wife, Deb, of 45 years in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, has 3 grown kids and has 2 grandkids. His personal hobbies and interests include live theatre/concerts/dance, foreign travel bucket list destinations, general sports, bowling, table tennis (ping pong), speed-reading, music, going to the beach and playing golf.
