Overview

Dr. Dikici holds M.S.M.E. and Ph.D. degrees from Texas Tech University and earned her B.S.M.E. with top honors from Gazi University in Turkey. Her doctoral research focused on the combustion of nanoparticle thermites, combining experimental and analytical investigations. She developed experimental systems and diagnostic methods for characterizing the burning behavior of aluminum nanoparticles.

Her research interests include biodegradable materials, biomaterials, sustainable engineering and biomass/biopolymers. Her previous work focused on processing agricultural biomass to develop natural fiber-reinforced polymer (NFRP) composites, while her current research centers on sustainable biopolymer materials and their engineering applications.

She also serves as the ASME student section advisor, mentoring students and organizing activities that promote engagement in mechanical engineering. Under her guidance, the Embry-Riddle ASME student section placed 3rd among 24 teams in the 2024 ASME e-Human Powered Vehicle Challenge (drag event category). The section has also received the ASME Student Section Achievement Award for 2023–2024, 2024–2025 and 2025–2026.

Dr. Dikici was recognized as the Mechanical Engineering Outstanding Teacher in 2024 for her commitment to teaching and mentorship. She also received the ASME Faculty All-Star Supporter Award for the U.S. and Canada in 2026.
