Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University is pleased to announce that Dr. Will Miller, associate vice president for Continuous Improvement and Institutional Performance, has been elected to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Board of Trustees as part of the commission’s Florida Delegation. Miller was selected during the 2025 SACSCOC Annual Meeting, held Dec. 6-9 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Miller is a national leader in accreditation, institutional effectiveness and continuous improvement. His work focuses on strengthening the systems that connect assessment, data and decision-making, ensuring that institutions move beyond compliance to sustained, evidence-based improvement. He partners with faculty and staff to design meaningful assessment processes, align outcomes with institutional strategy and translate findings into actionable change that supports student learning and institutional quality.

Embry‑Riddle President P. Barry Butler, Ph.D., noted that Miller’s work spans campuses and institutional functions to contribute to Embry‑Riddle’s Strategic Plan.

“Dr. Miller is an accomplished scholar who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role. We’re pleased that he has the opportunity to lend his strengths to support higher education across our region,” Butler said.

Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Dr. Kelly Austin celebrated Miller’s appointment as a reflection of Embry‑Riddle’s leadership in educational quality, integrity and commitment to student success.

“Dr. Miller’s election to the SACSCOC Board is a significant recognition of his expertise and his longstanding commitment to enhancing higher education,” Austin said. “His service will benefit institutions across the region while reinforcing Embry‑Riddle’s dedication to rigorous assessment, transparency and student success.”

At Embry‑Riddle, Miller oversees continuous improvement, institutional performance, all disciplinary accreditations — including the (AABI), and (ACBSP) — and state authorization across 100-plus locations. He also leads efforts to strengthen integrated data flows, strengthen institutional effectiveness processes and support faculty and staff in using assessment as a driver of improvement rather than a compliance exercise.

 “Accreditation is fundamentally about ensuring that institutions demonstrate and sustain quality,” Miller said. “At its best, it connects evidence, accountability and improvement in ways that directly strengthen student learning and institutional effectiveness. I look forward to contributing to the commission’s work and supporting institutions in building systems that make that connection real.”
