The transition from high school to college can be tricky. Adjusting to new schedules, harder classes, more coursework and moving somewhere new are just some of the obstacles students may face in their first year of college.
At , there are endless opportunities to make friends, find connections and get support. Students find a home away from home on our campuses and leave with lifetime friendships and valuable learning experiences.
We’ve asked our students what advice they have for new ·¡³¾²ú°ù²â‑R¾±»å»å±ô±ð students. They’ve been in your shoes and learned first-hand how to make the most of their ·¡³¾²ú°ù²â‑R¾±»å»å±ô±ð experience.
"Be okay with plans changing [from] what you originally thought they were going to be, because I'm on a completely different path than I was when I [first] got to ·¡³¾²ú°ù²â‑R¾±»å»å±ô±ð, and I’m really happy with how it’s turned out."
"Say yes to opportunities, as you never know where they may lead you. Take the time to reflect on how far you have already come."
"Joining clubs is probably the best thing you can do on campus. That's how I got my internship. That's how I met a lot of my friends. That's how I network. That's how I build myself up professionally."
"Go to your professor’s office hours. If you’re interested in something, take any opportunity you can to explore that. I’d just say try to do whatever you’re excited about. Know that it’s going to be a lot of work, but if you enjoy it, it will pay off in the end."
"I would not be at ·¡³¾²ú°ù²â‑R¾±»å»å±ô±ð if I did not have the help and support from my parents in searching for and applying for each scholarship. Together is better for achieving success."
"My advice for future students is to learn to put themselves out there. Socializing can be very intimidating the first couple of days, but everyone is in the same position. Just be yourself and have fun!"
